Henry A. Sykes collection, 1687-1859.

Henry Sykes was a native of Suffield, Connecticut. An architect and builder, he was also an avid researcher of Suffield history. In addition to personal correspondence and a diary, the collection contains materials Sykes obtained for his research. It includes information about the prominent King family of Suffield, town land and vital records, and correspondence between Dr. Alexander King and President Thomas Jefferson. There are also four diaries attributed to Alexander King (1774-1778) and notes from the General Assembly session in 1772, with a transcription. Another item is an account book belonging to William Huxley, also of Suffield.
